Casa update
In cuba there are two types of accomodation a tourist can legitimately stay in, a hotel (at great cost cheaper in american in my experience) or a casa particular. A casa for those who are unsure is a house, in this case a local family. I have today changed my casa particular to a cheaper place. My friend V found it for me, its a typical town house owned by three old ladies! I have my own room with a private bathroom. Its very simple but perfect for my needs. However I understand that they are not allowed to have tourist stay there so they could get into big trouble if the authorities new. However big the risk they are prepared to take it because they are so poor. I´m not going to talk anymore about this because it is a precarious situation.

Hi Ows,
Thought I'd write here since it had the big '0' by it!!
Sounds like things are going well there - ur accomodation sounds interesting and the 'them' and 'they' even more so! So are you feeling Cuban now? Like one of the locals!?! Was thinking about you tonight and have enjoyed reading all about your exploits so far - you need to write more, they make for a good (amusing!) read! I agree with Dave - god is sweeping through Christchurch in a powerful way!! Luckily - he is not limited to being in only one place at once! I'm am praying for you tonight.
Lots of love
